چکیده

The current study focuses on the biological diversity of two strains Antarctic diatoms (strains IMA082A and IMA088A) collected isolated from Ross Sea (Antarctica) during XXXIV Italian Expedition. Both species presented typical morphological characters genus Craspedostauros: cribrate areolae, “fore-and-aft” chloroplasts a narrow “stauros”. This classification is congruent with molecular phylogeny based concatenated 18S rDNA-rbcL-psbC alignment, which showed that these algae formed monophyletic lineage including six taxonomically accepted Craspedostauros. Since evolution this others raphe-bearing “stauros” particularly challenging their still debated, we tested alternative tree topologies to evaluate relationships among taxa. metabolic fingerprinting approach was implemented for assessment chemical IMA088A. In conclusion, combining (1) traditional features used in identification, (2) phylogenetic analyses small subunit rDNA (18S rDNA), rbcL psbC genes, (3) fingerprint, described IMA088A as Craspedostauros ineffabilis sp. nov. zucchellii new species, respectively.

Two novel species of marine phototrophic Gammaproteobacteria: Thiorhodococcus bheemlicus sp. nov. and Thiorhodococcus kakinadensis sp. nov.

Two coccoid phototrophic purple sulfur bacteria were isolated from marine habitats (marine aquaculture pond near Bheemli, Visakhapatnam and marine tidal waters from a fishing harbour, Kakinada) in a medium that contained 3% NaCl (w/v). Strains JA132T and JA130T are Gram-negative, motile cocci with a single flagellum. Both have an obligate requirement for NaCl. Intracellular photosynthetic membr...

Five novel Kitasatospora species from soil: Kitasatospora arboriphila sp. nov., K. gansuensis sp. nov., K. nipponensis sp. nov., K. paranensis sp. nov. and K. terrestris sp. nov.

A polyphasic study was carried out to establish the taxonomic positions of six strains isolated from diverse soil samples and provisionally assigned to the genus Kitasatospora. The isolates were found to have chemical and morphological properties consistent with their classification as Kitasatospora strains. Direct 16S rRNA gene sequence data confirmed the taxonomic position of the strains foll...
